TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR CAREER TO DATE / IN LAW?
I have worked in several different firms in my career within the Cardiff area and I have gained invaluable experience during this time. Firstly, beginning with personal injury firms which have provided me with the basis of my knowledge and understanding of legal and administrative support in high-volume and heavily client-facing environments.
I have subsequently moved into a commercial-based role with Carbon Law Partners, which has greatly expanded my knowledge and understanding of both client and business support requirements. Within my current role, of which I have been in for coming up to 3 years, I have provided huge administrative support on large projects like the insolvency of another law firm.
DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR AREA OF SPECIALITY?
I always strive to ensure that I am providing the best possible support to both clients and senior lawyers throughout the process of a matter. Whether that be through administrative, or legal support where possible. I am adept at condensing and understanding complex legal information into an easy-to-understand manner when speaking to clients. I always try to approach each matter with the mindset of providing as much support as possible. This allows clients and specialised lawyers within the team to focus on the complex issues at hand and allows for a more streamlined experience for all.
WHAT DREW YOU TOWARDS COMMERCIAL LAW?
Commercial Law has always fascinated me, primarily for the variety of different issues you can deal with throughout your day-to-day. One day you can be assisting with a commercial property transaction and the next day you can be assisting with a corporate merger. There is also great variety in the types of clients you provide service. It is great for exposure to all sorts of interesting people with interesting businesses. Commercial Law provides you with a great understanding of the world of business and that remains a key draw for me to this day.
AND YOUR CLIENTS?
I assist a variety of business directors, shareholders, accountants, for both larger and smaller firms with administrative support and less complex legal support on behalf of our team of specialised Commercial lawyers. Our specialised team can deal with insolvency, commercial litigation, debt recovery and regulatory matters.
WHAT DO YOUR CLIENTS LIKE ABOUT YOU AND THE WAY YOU WORK?
I believe that clients appreciate my approachable nature and clear explanations of various processes and legal support where applicable. I think that I am very clear, responsive and understanding to various client situations, which assists me in providing clients with the smoothest possible experience when dealing with various legal issues. I believe my ability to ease the client during the process is hugely appreciated, especially in circumstances that can cause heightened stress for many clients requiring help.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT BEING A LAWYER?
I like collaborating with others to help solve complex legal issues and to provide support to clients who are unable to deal with these matters without assistance. I enjoy being able achieve a commercial outcome for the benefit of a client. I do also very much enjoy contentious negotiations with lawyers on the other side of a commercial matter.
AND WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?
I love spending time with my friends and family. I’m a football fan and try to make the trip to Old Trafford as often as I can. I enjoy a good film, cooking, and occasionally trying to keep up with my fitness in the gym.
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
Spending quality time with my daughter, be it going somewhere where she can run around or play, drawing pictures, or simply watching a film together (like Frozen with her for the 437th time).
TELL US A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF?
I am in the background of Simon Pegg’s ‘Man Up’ film, because I went on a school trip in London while he was filming.
