Peter is a contentious probate expert working with charities and private individuals. He has been working in the charity sector since 1994. His first clients included the RNLI and Royal British Legion. Over the years that followed Peter went on to work with further major charity organisations including Guide Dogs for the Blind, RSPCA, PDSA, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and with the National Trust in a specialist in house role.

Why the charity sector?

I realised early on in my career that I had a fascination for this particular area law, working with a sensational group of clients and a sense of personal achievement in making a small but important difference to their aims.

What do you love about what you do?

One thing I enjoy above all about working with charities is the sense of community. There is of course some competition between the various charities but when it comes to resolving post-death legal problems they are all in the same boat. The legacy officers share their problems and learn from their collective experiences. I have worked with most of them for the best part of 25 years. I count many of them as friends as well as clients.

Any professional accolades?

I’ve regularly been highly ranked by Chambers and Legal 500, including being listed as a “key individual” in Band 1 (Charities). I also take particular pride in the words Professor Robin Jacoby of Oxford University shared about me.

What do you enjoy doing in your leisure time?
Music, listening and performing. Photography. Restaurants and country pubs. Walking. Rugby. Cricket. House renovation. Creative writing. Historical research.

I have a few things on my bucket list that I’d like to learn – to fly, to ride a horse, to dance, to ski. And I’d like to do another skydive.
