Stewart has over 18 years’ experience working in the legal industry and now solely focuses on corporate and commercial law, with experience in corporate law, he specialises in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investments, and providing comprehensive legal guidance across a broad spectrum of corporate matters. Stewart also acts as general counsel for a number of his clients.

TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR CAREER TO DATE / IN LAW?

My legal career has taken me through some brilliantly varied terrain, from serious personal injury work to insurance counter‑fraud, and ultimately into the corporate and commercial space where I’ve really found my stride. I first qualified as a Fellow of CILEX before cross‑qualifying as a solicitor, giving me a grounded, hands‑on understanding of how legal work actually gets done.

Alongside the technical journey, I’ve built a distinctly entrepreneurial approach to practice, streamlining legal operations, delivering commercially focused advice, and developed a strong Cardiff network that thrives on connecting people, opportunities, and ideas.

I’ve now joined Carbon Law because its modern, collaborative, growth‑minded culture matches exactly how I want to practise. Carbon gives me the platform to build a dynamic, relationship‑led practice rooted in Cardiff but with national reach, and to do it in a way that feels bold, commercial, and genuinely client‑centred.

AND YOUR CLIENTS?

I work with founders, SMEs, and their boards across the UK, especially within the South Wales ecosystem where my network is strongest. I operate across all sectors and have been involved in transactions ranging from £250,000 to £250 million, helping businesses at every stage of their growth journey.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU ABOUT YOUR WORK?

What matters most to me is working closely with businesses at every stage of their growth; from the first spark of an idea to major strategic transactions. I love getting properly embedded in a business, becoming a trusted advisor, and helping founders, directors and shareholders make confident, commercial decisions. Strong relationships sit at the heart of how I practise, and I use my network to make sure every client has the right expertise around them at the right time.

AND WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?

When I’m not with clients, you’ll usually find me at my local CrossFit box putting in the work, or out running as I gear up for the next Hyrox. If I’m not training, I’m probably knee‑deep in a DIY project or out by the smoker experimenting as a budding BBQ enthusiast. And every now and then, I make it onto the golf course… mostly to help my clients look far better than I do.

HOW DO YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR YOUR CLIENTS?

I’m driven by a genuinely client‑obsessed mindset. I try to understand what each business needs, what keeps its leaders up at night, and what will move it forward. That naturally feeds into my entrepreneurial approach where I enjoy thinking like a business owner, not just a lawyer, and bringing commercial acumen to every conversation.

TELL US A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF?

A little‑known fact about me is that I’m the great‑great‑great grandson of Sir Robert Peel. It’s not something I lead with, but it’s a piece of family history I’ve always appreciated!
