Gabriel has over 6 years’ experience working in Commercial Dispute Resolution and is a specialist Commercial Litigator who works across several sectors with particular focus on contractual and shareholder disputes.
Gabriel also has a wealth of experience advising clients on matters concerning harassment, reputational management, injunctive relief and debt recovery and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR CAREER TO DATE / IN LAW?
I came to law after having spent my twenties as a professional actor, so confidence and presentation aren’t an issue, and having that perspective which comes from working outside the law is also something I’ve found over the years that clients engage with. I have since spent my legal career at a Top 40 firm where I quickly specialised as a commercial litigator and have enjoyed building a practice which spans a large number of sectors in the commercial world including manufacturing, technology, and finance. I have further experience in elements of reputation management and dealing with harassment.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT BEING A LAWYER?
As a litigator, no two days are the same and you often find yourself having to develop expertise in many areas which may be alien to you. That variety and challenge is motivating in and of itself but it is the being able to assess the evidence and provide clear advice to clients, which is particularly satisfying.
WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU ABOUT YOUR WORK?
I always strive to do justice by my clients, whether it comes in the form of working hard over a period of time to achieve a positive result, or whether that be some simple initial advice to prevent a risk becoming a significant problem, if it’s a good and just outcome for the client, I’m happy. I enjoy working with a client on a “prevention rather than cure” basis knowing that a little, carefully considered, advice can potentially go a long way.
WHAT DO YOUR CLIENTS LIKE ABOUT YOU AND THE WAY YOU WORK?
My clients appreciate my straight-forward approach and my user-friendly nature. Being on top of the law is a given but I believe being able to deliver the underlying message in a clear manner which resonates is also key. If there’s something we can work with, let’s work with it, if not, let’s not spend good money after bad.
Clients also appreciate that I’m responsive and amiable. Part of delivering the best result can lie in understanding a client’s needs and I enjoy building a good rapport with clients to ensure that this is a factor in the advice provided.
AWAY FROM THE WORLD OF LAW, WHAT DO YOU ENJOY?
Outside of the law, I have a passion for acting and enjoy theatre and film. I enjoy many sports, particularly football and F1. I also have a love of travelling and being in nature, seeing what the natural world has to offer, be that nearby or further afield. Above all though, I’m loving seeing the world through my three youngsters’ eyes, every day is an adventure!
