Carbon is pleased to welcome Marissa Prince, who joins the firm as a Family Solicitor, bringing a thoughtful, compassionate and highly client‑focused approach to family law.

Marissa specialises in divorce and separation, financial settlements and children matters, as well as private family law disputes including non‑molestation and occupation orders. She also advises on pre‑ and post‑nuptial agreements, supporting clients through all aspects of relationship breakdown with clear, practical and empathetic guidance at what is often one of life’s most challenging moments.

Marissa has built her legal career with family law at its core from the outset, gaining experience across a broad range of matters at some of the most highly regarded law firms in the South West. Following a short career break to spend time raising her three children, she has returned to practice with renewed focus and perspective. Her approach is firmly client‑centred, combining strong technical ability with a clear understanding of the emotional and practical realities that family law issues bring.

Marissa works with a diverse client base, including professionals, business owners, farmers and parents, many of whom are seeking reassurance, clarity and a trusted adviser to guide them through sensitive and often life‑changing decisions. Marissa is known for her approachable manner, calm professionalism and ability to explain complex legal issues in plain language. She takes the time to listen carefully, ensuring clients feel informed, supported and in control of their decisions, while remaining focused on achieving practical outcomes that align with their priorities and long‑term stability.

Commenting on Marissa joining Carbon, CEO Michael Burne added:

“Marissa brings an exceptional combination of technical expertise, emotional intelligence and genuine care for her clients. Her approach reflects exactly how we believe family law should be practised at Carbon. She will be a tremendous asset to both our clients and our team, and we are delighted to support her and her practice as we continue to grow.”

Highlights of Marissa’s career include successfully running an add‑back claim in a complex farming case following asset dissipation, representing a father in a successful relocation case to Devon, and advising a client in proceedings against the Child Maintenance Service to recover years of unpaid maintenance where income had been deliberately diverted. Marissa holds first‑class honours degrees in both History and Law, along with Distinctions in her GDL and LPC, underscoring her strong academic foundation alongside her practical experience.

Outside of work, Marissa enjoys travelling with family and friends, cooking, strength training at the gym, and spending time outdoors exploring Devon’s beaches, coastal paths and moors, often accompanied by her black Labrador and three children.

At Carbon, Marissa advises clients across all areas of family law, helping them navigate separation and family matters with dignity, clarity and momentum, so they can move forward into the next chapter of their lives with confidence and security.
