We are delighted to announce that Melissa Haskell has joined Carbon Law Partners!
Melissa brings extensive experience as a Commercial Litigator and Regulatory Law & Compliance specialist, with expertise in enforcement and policy interpretation and implementation.
Melissa’s career spans over a decade, including work as a Solicitor Advocate in criminal and immigration practice, followed by a senior role in local government where she led on prosecutions, regulatory and licensing matters.
Notably, she served as Lead Enforcement Authority for the implementation of the Tenant Fees Act 2019, shaping policy and guiding compliance.
Melissa now focuses on contentious, policy-led work and uses her prosecution experience to support clients facing complex regulatory and disciplinary challenges.
Melissa shared:
“Despite the stereotype, being a lawyer is an inherently human profession. Every matter is different, and with laws, industries and client needs constantly changing, the work keeps me connected to the individuals involved.”
Melissa was drawn to Carbon for its people and its flexible, collaborative approach. She describes Carbon in three words: Collaborative, Personable, and Enabling, values that align perfectly with our mission.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to destinations such as the Maldives and the Bahamas.
Michael Burne, CEO of Carbon Law Partners, commented:
“Melissa embodies the qualities we value most at Carbon; expertise, integrity, and a collaborative spirit. Her experience in commercial litigation and regulatory law will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our team. We look forward to supporting melissa and her practice as we continue to grow.”
