WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO JOIN CARBON LAW PARTNERS?

I had met Michael Burne in a previous professional life and when I unexpectedly became redundant, I was actively contacted by Liz Smith to consider joining.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FIRST DAY HERE?

Extremely scary and daunting, but only because I have never been self-employed before. The team in operations support have been amazing and held my hand all the way.

CAN YOU SHARE A HIGHLIGHT FROM YOUR FIRST MONTH WITH US?

The highlight of my first month can only be actually producing an output for a client that they were happy with and I was thrilled to produce.

HOW HAVE YOU FOUND THE SUPPORT FROM YOUR TEAM AND OTHER COLLEAGUES?

Support is brilliant.

IN WHAT WAYS HAS WORKING HERE MET OR EXCEEDED YOUR EXPECTATIONS?

I never expected to enjoy the freedom of being able to be myself and still practice as a lawyer.

HOW DOES YOUR ROLE HERE AT CARBON DIFFER FROM PREVIOUS POSITIONS YOU’VE HELD?

Rather than being led I am leading.

ARE THERE ANY ASPECTS OF YOUR JOB NOW THAT YOU FIND MORE FULFILLING COMPARED TO PAST ROLES?

I always find interaction with clients fulfilling but in previous roles my clients were internal and I had very little exposure to what I like to call “real clients”.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING DIFFERENT NOW THAT YOU’RE AT CARBON?

Not being answerable to people whose values I don’t feel align with mine.

WHAT ARE SOME GOALS YOU’RE HOPING TO ACHIEVE IN THE NEXT YEAR WITH CARBON LAW PARTNERS?

Rediscover my love of the law which has been lost over the past few years and also rediscover who I am as a person.

HOW DO YOU THINK BEING AT CARBON WILL HELP IN ACHIEVING THESE GOALS?

Carbon is really supportive, and its values align with mine. I was incredibly honoured that Michael referred to me as being 7Q. I think that says it all!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE CONSIDERING A MOVE TO CARBON?

You can do it! It will be scary and you will have doubts but you have to go out of your comfort zone to grow.

FAVOURITE MOVIE/TV SHOW?

That is so tough. Only murders in the building or The Bear.

IS THERE A NEW SKILL/HOBBY YOU WOULD LIKE TO PICK UP?

I have recently had a pot throwing experience and I should like to do more of this. Homemade presents for the whole family from now on in!

FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM SCHOOL?

I think it was the time when in my first year of secondary school (now they call this year 7!) My form tutor gave me an encyclopaedia as I didn’t have one. It really showed how much teachers can care about the learning of their students. Loads of great moments have surfaced but that was the first.

YOUR FAVOURITE RESTERAUNT AND WHY?

The Giggling Squid. I love the name, and I love Thai food.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO DE-STRESS?

Gardening, just pottering around the garden and being outside in general.

IF YOU WERE AN ATHLETE WHAT WOULD YOUR WALKOUT SONG BE?

Kylie Minogue and spinning around, complete with the gold hot pants.

NAME SOMETHING YOU THINK IS OVERRATED AND WHY?

Wrapping paper. It’s both a waste of money and no one appreciates the effort that is made to make presents look appealing.

WHAT GAME SHOW DO YOU THINK YOU COULD WIN?

Richard Osman’s house of games (if only I were a celebrity).

IF YOU COULD LIVE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, WHERE WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

Somewhere on the Mediterranean. I like hot and dry places.
